Norfolk, VA (May 17, 2023) — The Major League Development Association (MLDA) announced today the addition of Frederick County Soccer Club as their newest member organization ahead of the upcoming 2023-24 seasonal year.
“We are thrilled to welcome Frederick County Soccer Club to the MLDA,” stated Steven Wagoner, MLDA President. “Frederick County Soccer Club has a rich soccer history and has operated for over a decade in the Maryland soccer community. We can’t wait to get started and look forward to collaborating with club leadership, coaches, and teams to help complement Frederick County Soccer Club’s current soccer offerings in Frederick, Maryland.
The MLDA is a leading sports and media organization that offers a supporting business ecosystem for sports teams, clubs and competitions with the mission to inspire and connect communities through sports.
The MLDA sponsors five professionally operated and community driven youth academy programs in four states including Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina with youth league representation at the highest levels in the country including USYS’s National League (Boys and Girls) and MLS NEXT (Boys).
“For ten years Frederick County Soccer Club has been providing Frederick County and the surrounding area with a soccer culture that develops character, confidence, sportsmanship, core values, and leadership skills that lead to excellence on and off the soccer field,” stated Academy Director, Paul Riley. “We are very excited to join the MLDA to further this culture of excellence and provide access and opportunities to a complete player development experience from recreational to professional while remaining proudly rooted in our community.”
Frederick County Soccer Club plans to maintain its current programing offerings in Frederick County, Maryland and will offer additional supplemental programs to complement the current membership throughout the year.
In addition, Frederick County Soccer Club and West Virginia Soccer will plan to collaborate regionally in the West Virginia Eastern Panhandle and in Frederick County, Maryland. Both clubs have a long standing relationship working together and are excited to continue the relationship.
