Open tryouts for boys and girls U9–U19 for the 2026/27 season
Norfolk, VA – Virginia Beach City FC Academy has opened registration for 2026/27 youth soccer tryouts, welcoming players from across Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and the greater Hampton Roads region to compete for roster spots in one of the area’s premier player development environments.
Tryouts will take place at Norfolk Collegiate School across multiple dates in April and May and are open to both boys and girls across all youth age groups.
Virginia Beach City FC Academy provides a player-first development environment with licensed coaches, structured training, and a clear pathway within the Virginia Beach City FC club system.
Tryouts are free and open to all players. Athletes are encouraged to attend the sessions that correspond with their age group.

Important Age Group Changes for the 2026/27 Season
Beginning with the 2026/27 season, both U.S. Club Soccer and US Youth Soccer have adopted a school-year age grouping system rather than the traditional calendar-year model.
Under this system, age groups follow an August 1 – July 31 birthdate window, allowing youth soccer teams to align more closely with school grades.
As the state governing body, the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) will implement this change across leagues and competitions throughout Virginia.
Because of this transition, some players may see a different age group designation than in previous seasons, even though they are playing with classmates in the same grade.
Families are encouraged to review the updated birth year chart below to determine their player’s correct age group.
